Easton Guillory, the singer-songwriter from Newcastle, is releasing a six track EP, which will be called End of the Walls, on April 5th of 2022. The lead single of this upcoming EP is a song titled “Always With You,” which Guillory released today, March 22nd. Now based in Leeds, the singer-songwriter is able to bring his rough experiences from Newcastle to musical light so that Guillory could fully express himself in a way that was nearly impossible for him to do in Newcastle.
“Growing up in Wallsend, if you didn’t like football or fighting or if you had long hair, you were bound to have a heard time… When I moved to Leeds, I could fully express myself but part of that meant carrying the stereotypes of my upbringing with me.” – Easton Guillory
On the lead single of Guillory’s upcoming EP, “Always With You” begins with Guillory’s classic acoustic guitar before he enters with his intimate vocal style, creating a soft soundscape meant to draw the listener in. With the later accompaniment of a piano and a string section, Guillory is able to create a sense of melancholic beauty. The song is about Guillory’s late father, who Guillory did not get a chance to know but the song is able to capture the feeling of a father’s support and love even after his passing.
The final titular track of the EP again begins with Guillory’s acoustic guitar but with a much different tone. The guitar is much more mysterious than on “Always With You” and it pairs very nicely with Guillory’s spoken-word vocal style. As other instruments join, the song creates a manic and unsettling energy that keeps the listener on edge the entire time. This is not to say that the song is bad by any means, being that it is my personal favorite on the EP since Guillory is able to paint a realistic world through his lyrics that are accompanied perfectly by the music underneath.
