Following the fiery release of “Knock Down, Drag Out” earlier this summer, UK pop-rock band The Wild Things are back with “I Can’t Wait” – a defiant breakup anthem arriving 14th August 2025. The new single marks the second half of the band’s New Orleans–set love story, bringing the lust-fuelled highs of their previous track to a crashing, cathartic end. Pre-save the single here.
From Lust to Rage: A Two-Part Story
In June, “Knock Down, Drag Out” showcased The Wild Things’ cheeky lyricism and pop-rock swagger, telling a sultry tale of love and lust. Now, “I Can’t Wait” picks up where it left off – except this time, vocalist Sydney Rae White isn’t holding back.
“Hey son of a bitch,” she declares in the opening lines, before delivering the cutting blow: “First of all, go to hell.” The track takes aim at arrogant exes and game-playing heartbreakers, wrapping raw emotion in irresistible rock hooks.
“This song is a real shift for us,” says White. “If ‘Knock Down, Drag Out’ is a nod to our past, ‘I Can’t Wait’ is a window into our future.”
A Breakup in Glorious Technicolour
The single is accompanied by a music video directed by guitarist Rob Kendrick, capturing the euphoric relief of letting go. Fans can also join in the catharsis through The Black Heart interactive voicemail system – where anyone can leave a message for their ex. Call +44 7540 742440 to participate.
