The India-born but Houston, Texas-based poet, painter, and musician known as Nonviolenze is set to release “Green,” the lead single off of his upcoming album called Seasons, on July 27th.
Nonviolenze has released several singles from 2012 to 2019 and even released his first album in 2020, which mixed both acoustic and electric elements. Seasons is expected to highlight progressive rock textures and each individual song is to be accompanied by Nonviolenze’s colorful paintings, which can be found on his website.
Serving as a contemplative acoustic journey, “Green” grips its listeners with its reflective and simplistic nature. Opening with crashing waves, the song soon transitions to an acoustic ballad featuring an acoustic guitar and Nonviolenze’s initially soft yet powerful vocals. As the song grows, electronic instruments and synthesizers are gradually incorporated and the initially soft vocals grow in intensity.
“Green” climaxes about halfway through the six-minute-long song when an electric guitar and Nonviolenze’s vocals are all that can be heard. The vocal droning shift from one ear to the other in a very hypnotic way while the guitars strum in the background to help set the stage. This entrancing part of the song does not last for very long before the acoustic guitar comes back in to take center stage and show off its melodic prowess.
The electronic synthesizers and other accompanying instruments excellently help to complement the acoustic guitar’s time to shine. The vocals do not return for the rest of the song but a serene soundscape is created to help imitate the vision of a beautiful day, bookended by the return of the crashing waves at the very end of the song.
