‘Twins’ is a great four-song EP that boasts heaps of talent and unbelievable versatility that is enough to grab the attention of many music fans. With ‘Homeless Strange’ kicking the EP off in strong fashion, Serkin shows off his multifaceted sound with a bouncing dance-pop track mixed with an impressive vocal style that is enough to make anyone sit up and take notice. His vocal style can be further demonstrated with the second track ‘Painful Mistakes’, which steps away from the dance-pop style and goes into indie-rock. His style cannot be pigeonholed into any of the mainstream genres, but rather each song speaks to a different type of musician inside the mind of Teddy Serkin.
Out of all the songs on the EP, the one who to look out is ‘Edge’. Starting off with what you’d expect is something similar to 70s disco, with a fantastic drumbeat before flipping into a hard-rock chorus again featuring Serkin’s impressive vocals and breaking down into a blues-like piano, before returning to the hard-rock style. The track is one of the most unique pieces of music around today, proving that Teddy Serkin cannot be put in a box, and is a creator that can comfortably stand on his own two feet in the industry.
