The art collective known as maere is set to release their newest single, “Red Room,” on July 29th. Fronted by front and spokesperson Cee, maere is made up of various collaborators all over the world, including Italy, Germany, Russia, and the United States, each member sharing similar core social values, such as feminism, anti-capitalism, and anti-racism. The overall message of maere’s enterprises is to create a sense of unity through both art and life and between the group and their listeners.

maere also have an upcoming EP being released sometime in the near future, which will feature “Red Room” as its lead track. Focusing in on the more experimental side of contemporary pop music, “Red Room” creates a soundscape ideal for chilling to while also serving as a medium for a deeper and more meaningful message.

“Red Room is in part about a feeling of isolation, caused maybe by depression or some external factors. We left that open to interpretation, as it was written in Moscow right when the war started, and both me and Gau felt the influence of that uncertainty about the future.” – maere

Listeners of “Red Room” should expect a music video for the song to be released around the same time of the single’s release, which will feature Gau, a Russian singer and another collaborator of maere, singing with atmospheric lighting.

Spokesperson Cee, along with the other collaborators that make up maere, use musical creation as a cathartic process to express their authentic selves. With a fascination towards identity, maere seeks to have both its creators and listeners unite to discover their true selves, instead of focusing on their superficial selves.

Be sure to check out maere’s “Red Room” on July 29th and don’t forget to follow this up and coming art collective on Instagram and Twitter!
