A Song About Healing and Self-Discovery
Recorded at Real Sound Recording Studio in Milan, ‘Better Man’ was written by Tyron Freeman and produced by Chris Taylor (Blossoms, The Coral, Miles Kane). The mastering was done by Graeme Lynch at Kempston Street Studios.
The track is emotional and soul-driven. It tells the story of learning to heal and to find peace within yourself. Ty describes it as “a spiritual reckoning”, rather than a heartbreak song. It’s about facing your past, accepting the pain, and walking away stronger.
He explains, “It’s about learning from the wreckage you made of yourself and walking out stronger. The truth is, no one else is coming to save you but yourself.”
Between Vulnerability and Power
Freeman says his sound has evolved over the years. He wanted to move away from the hard-rock energy that no longer felt authentic. Instead, he began writing softer and more emotional songs.
He says this new sound feels closer to The Verve’s Northern Soul era and carries the same honesty that inspired him at seventeen. His influences include Cast, The Coral, Radiohead, and Jeff Buckley—artists who blend emotion and strength in their music.
A Cinematic Video with a Deeper Message
Directed by Frank Felsen, the ‘Better Man’ video brings this emotional journey to life. It shows the balance between strength and vulnerability.
“The video mirrors that same rebirth,” Ty says. “It’s about reconnecting with the softer, more intuitive energy within myself. It’s not about destroying one side, but healing both.”
The video’s dark yet beautiful tone perfectly matches the song’s emotion. Felsen understood Ty’s vision and created a film that feels both real and symbolic.
From Liverpool Streets to the International Stage
Ty Freeman’s story is one of resilience. Raised in foster care, he found comfort in music. He began by performing on the streets of Liverpool, then played in bars across Hamburg and Zurich. Now living in Zurich, he’s known for his intense live shows and authentic sound.
Earlier this year, Ty played a sold-out show at Zurich’s Dynamo Werk 21. He also made his UK debut at The Shacklewell Arms in London to a full crowd. His next show takes place at London’s Moth Club on 20th November.

With a debut album produced by Chris Taylor on the way, Ty Freeman continues to rise as one of the UK’s most honest and soulful voices. His previous single ‘One Way Love’ (August 2025) received support from many underground tastemakers.
