Time—considered as subject, symbol, and sound—forms the core of Shyfrin Alliance’s second album, In the Shadow of Time, due November 14, 2025. The project, founded by award-winning author, businessman, and scientist Eduard Shyfrin, advances its Kabbalah-influenced ethos under the motto Music of the Mystic, Mystics of the Music.
The new record follows Upside Down Blues (2024), which secured radio playlisting across the US, UK, and Europe and surpassed half a million Spotify streams, establishing Shyfrin’s resonant bass-baritone and analytical lyricism as defining features of the group’s identity.
Recorded in Paris with leading French rock musicians at Studios Barillet, Ferber, and Grand Armée, In the Shadow of Time comprises seven blues-rock compositions, each addressing a distinct facet of temporality. The album’s conceptual frame juxtaposes two images: the gravitational pull of a Black Hole, suggesting immersion in sound and contemplation, and the ceaseless swing of a Pendulum, evoking time’s recurring motion between light and shadow.
“I don’t think there exists an album dedicated purely to the topic of time,” Shyfrin states. “You will not find another album like this. My principle is I may always be afraid to enter new areas, but I will always enter them. Even if it means daring to hit the Wall of Time.”
The lead single, Buddha Blues, presents an uplifting blues-rock arrangement—guitar lines, piano, Hammond organ, and a gospel-blues chorus—paired with a Buddhism-inspired message that frames time as a healer. By contrast, the title track personifies time as an austere, controlling presence. Its rolling drums and commanding bass-baritone convey tension and awe, while Shyfrin likens time’s unknowable contours to an abstract expressionist canvas in the mode of Jackson Pollock: a shapeless force that remains inscrutable even as it presses on human action.
The album extends Shyfrin’s ongoing investigation of Kabbalah and science, a body of inquiry also reflected in his Amazon bestselling book From Infinity to Man: The Fundamental Ideas of Kabbalah Within the Framework of Information Theory and Quantum Physics. “All my research on Kabbalah and science is challenging,” he notes. “There is no other author on this topic. We cannot provide the final answers – that’s not realistic on such a difficult and unique topic. But we shouldn’t stop searching.”
In the Shadow of Time positions Shyfrin Alliance at the intersection of rigorous concept and robust blues-rock execution, inviting listeners to engage with the music’s philosophical dimensions as well as its performance craft.
