Amey St. Cyr is an artist who you would swear you’ve seen or heard before – that’s because you probably have. As a musical performer she’s worked alongside acts such as Thompson Twins’ in Babble; Baby Ford and Audio Deluxe both touring and in the studio. As an actress, she’s most recently appeared in music videos for Krept and Konan, Big Narstie and Mackey Gee, but it’s to music she’s now concentrating her efforts with her first break-out solo effort – ‘Wild World‘.
Drawing on a retro house sound, ‘Wild World’ is a perfect reflection of Amey’s positive outlook on life and a welcome reminder of the club-life of the early 90’s:
“I describe Wild World as a comment on ‘social inequality’, which are the buzz words on any thinking person’s lips at the moment mixed with positive beats and uplifting lyrics to help us all out of the doldrums in these challenging days of austerity.”
Amey’s music career was taking off in a big way in the early 90s when tragedy struck and post-natal depression left her unable to accept record company contracts and led to her descending into a life fuelled by drugs and alcohol. Now clean for 12 years, Amey has risen phoenix-like from the ashes to return to the music that so influenced her as a teenager – house music. Having sneaked out to clubs aged 14 whilst her mother was working on night shifts, the thrill and energy of clubs as well as her love of dancing have left an indelibly positive impression on Amey, which she’s hopes to transfer to a new generation with ‘Wild World‘.
