Electric Sufi is proud to present their debut album, “Breathe In Love”, an album that strives to bring awareness to the pressing matter of climate change.
This ambitious project is an amalgamation of traditional and modern, of East and West, of old and new. Vocalist Sahrah Yaseen brings her Kashmiri background to the forefront, while multi-instrumentalist Mina Salama adds his Coptic Christian influences to the mix. Finally, Rupert Till’s expertise in popular music and music archaeology elevates the soundscapes to a level that is both stirring and captivating.
The lead single “O Ignis Spiritus” is a powerful testament to the potential of intercultural collaboration. Originally a mediaeval Christian chant by St. Hildegarde, Sarah Yaseen’s transformation of the chant into a mesmerizing performance demonstrates the potential for musical unity across cultures.
Other tracks such as “I Need Your Love” further showcase the diversity of influences present in the album. At its core, “Breathe In Love” is a spiritual journey, a journey of self-discovery, but also a journey of understanding and awareness.
