SHSH are an industrial thrash metal band from Lithuania, formed in 2017. They have quickly gained attention for their mischievous attitude, theatrical live performances, catchy metal riffs and comical takes on dark topics.
Their unique sound, melding thrash and groove metal with saxophone-driven hooks, has captivated audiences in Lithuania and beyond. As central to the project as the music itself are SHSH’s five welder characters, complete with unusual costumes and vibrant personalities: Mastermind, Saxocutioner, Riot, Mr. Lead and Edgelord. These characters’ childhood relationship to one another and adolescent beginnings, still resonate through the band’s playful, passionate and ever-evolving sound.
Their latest project, The Great Paradise of Tomorrow, is a warning about the dangerous reality of oppressive systems and corporate totalitarianism. The album combines old-school thrash metal and modern metal sounds, fierce vocals and groovy sax and guitar melodies. It is already gaining critical acclaim and was recently hailed by Metal Hammer as “one of the wildest, most unique things to hit thrash metal in years”. On top of their musical success, SHSH are also working towards providing an intentionally edgy movement – ‘Kill alt/indie.’
This aims to challenge the current music scene and metal festivals, calling out the ‘lazy and pretentious’ alternative and indie rock bands for sounding the same. The album, The Great Paradise of Tomorrow, is out now, digitally, with CD and vinyl soon to be available. SHSH are continuing to spread their music throughout the UK and beyond, and no doubt their energetic live performances will not disappoint. The band are yet to be seen in the US, but with a passionate fan base and impressive album, SHSH should be on the radar for fans of thrash metal across the world.
