As the much-anticipated Euro 24 draws near, Scotland’s national team has a new anthem that will surely ignite the passion of the Tartan Army. Born out of a love for 90s/00s house and techno, the track titled “We Are The Tartan Army” is the brainchild of a group of dedicated football-loving ravers.
Inspired by the famous “here we f*cking go” chant at a Primal Scream concert, Scottish band member Andrew knew that the national team deserved their own version. Teaming up with Guy Fforde, known for his popular electronic music breakdowns on YouTube, the duo created a Fat Boy Slim inspired track that is not only catchy but also perfect for chanting. With its easy-to-remember lyrics, “We Are The Tartan Army” is bound to be a stadium anthem as Scotland takes on Germany on June 14th in Munich. But that’s not all, Tartan Army ’24 has also released a German Acid Mix and a remix by renowned sports broadcasting legend Shebahn Aherne.
It was during a late-night writing session that the band stumbled upon Shebahn’s TalkSport show. Inspired by her passion for sports, they quickly got back to work and collaborated to create the Shebahn Aherne mix of their anthem. Football fans and music lovers can now listen to “We Are The Tartan Army” on all platforms, immersing themselves in the pulsing beats and uplifting energy of the track.
