The pop rock musician known as Grave Jones recently released the third single from his upcoming album on September 29th. The latest single is a track called “Lies” and the upcoming debut album by Grave Jones will be called Heartrage Hotel.

Grave Jones has had a knack for writing pop rock songs but “Lies” deviates from what the artist is used to. Fortunately, Grave Jones has just as good of a knack for more grunge-based music as he does with other genres. “Lies” starts off with just a drum beat but as the verse progresses, more and more elements get added to the song’s soundscape. This quieter section is quickly replaced with a much heavier chorus where the singing is replaced with more intense screams, meant to highlight the darker message of the song.

Grave Jones shows off his musical and lyrical prowess throughout the duration of “Lies,” first through the amount of range he has as a singer and then through the soloing capabilities he has as a guitarist. “Lies” focuses on deceit and betrayal and Grave Jones is able to express these kinds of messages in his words and in his playing.

“Lies” was released with an accompanying music video, which was directed by Karl Hadife, that further highlights these messages of betrayal through a largely monochromatic lens. The video features real people recounting lies they have faced as the band, dressed in all black, play the single. The vulnerability that Grave Jones tries to capture in the song is only expanded upon in its accompanying video.

Be sure to check out “Lies” and the rest of Heartrage Hotel when it is available to the public and don’t forget to follow Grave Jones on social media to keep up with his latest projects and shows!
