Jo Thompson’s Garden: A Place of Calm and Hope

Jo Thompson created her garden for women at HMP Downview, a prison in Surrey. She worked with The Glasshouse, a group that trains women in horticulture. The space focuses on privacy, peace, and growth.

After the show ends, the garden will move to the prison. There, it will give women a space to relax, heal, and feel connected to nature.

Tip: This garden shows how green spaces can support rehabilitation and emotional wellbeing.

Ishihara’s Japanese Garden: Inspired by Tea and Harmony

Japanese designer Kazuyuki Ishihara presents Cha no Niwa, or “tea garden.” His design includes maple trees, flowing water, and a traditional tea house. The layout invites visitors to slow down, breathe, and enjoy quiet reflection.

If you love Japanese art and peaceful design, this garden is a must-see.

Other Inspiring Gardens to Explore

  • MS Amlin Peace of Mind Garden by Hamzah-Adam Desai uses colors and textures to calm the mind. It will later be installed at a children’s hospice.
  • The Pathway Garden by Modular Studio highlights the challenges of homelessness. After Chelsea, it will be rebuilt at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

These projects prove that gardens can serve a real purpose beyond the show itself.

🌱 A Greener, More Responsible Show

This year, the show is more eco-conscious than ever. Thanks to the Project Giving Back initiative, many gardens will live on in communities across the UK. Also, organizers have cut carbon emissions by 28%, showing a strong commitment to sustainability.
