Doug Rimington, better known as Heart Through Sacrifice, recently released his self-titled debut album on August 29th. Heart Through Darkness is Rimington’s progressive metal act that wants listeners to be transported away from our ordinary lives and into the rich worlds being presented. Heart Through Darkness also released a single called “Pride Retaken” only three months after the release of his self-titled album.
Heart Through Sacrifice is a 22-track album that features a spoken-word introduction and conclusion as well as an instrumental versions on top of the vocal versions of each track. Each song is a combination of two songs that seamlessly blend into each other and the ones that do this best are “Pride And Honour / Him” and “By Her Side / Grief And Resolve.” “Pride And Honour / Him” contains impressive guitar metal riffs and a haunting guitar solo that is sure to resonate with any listener.
The vocal harmonies of the chorus help to create a full and complete sounds accompanied by the backing and powerful drums, bass, and guitar. For “By Her Side / Grief And Resolve,” there are only good things to be said. Every instrument of the song immediately starts in this song allowing for the listener to instantaneously be transported into the upsetting mindset of the protagonist.
Heart Through Sacrifice’s latest single immediately opens with a loud and thrashing metal beat, fully equipped with guitar, bass, and drums. When the vocals enter the scene, the intensity of the rhythm section does not relent and it only adds to the lyrical topic of growing evil. The lead female vocals perfectly complement the metal genre that Heart Through Darkness is looking for with “Pride Retaken.” This song is definitely sure to leave the listener feeling ready to take on the world and the evil rising from within.
